Our research spans inorganic, organometallic, organic, and biochemistry to discover strategies to employ metalloenzymes in new ways for both fine and commodity chemical synthesis. We apply principles from inorganic chemistry to manipulate the properties of metal centers within enzymes and study the emergence of new properties as a function of protein sequence.
Our lab's interdisciplinary approach provides students with opportunites to gain experience in organic and inorganic synthesis, protein biochemistry, high-throughput enzyme engineering, and multiple forms of spectroscopic and mechanistic analysis.
