Alex was raised in California and recieved her B.S. in Chemistry at the University of California, Berkeley in 2017 where she worked in Prof. John Arnold's group. In 2023 she completed her Ph.D. research with Prof. Daniel Suess at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She then moved to Princeton University for a postdoctoral fellowship with Prof. Todd Hyster.

In 2026 she returned to UC Berkeley as an Assistant Professor of Chemistry.
